In collaboration with Alaska Pacific University and the University of Alaska Fairbanks, CU Boulder is cohosting the initiative, which uses convergence research to address and mitigate climate-change-related challenges in the rapidly changing Arctic.

The Community Office is led by Matthew Druckenmiller from the at CU Boulder.

Funded by the NSF for five years, the Community Office supports the goals of the Navigating the New Arctic initiative by focusing on co-production of knowledge with Indigenous peoples, convergence research, culturally responsive education and outreach, and open science. The Community Office also works to increase recognition of Indigenous knowledge and data sovereignty, and to promote inclusive and collaborative research design and implementation.
