If you ever have questions about AMWA or see us in your classes, come say hi! We strongly believe in empowering our peers and hope to be a friendly face at our big school.
President:
Lauren Froning
Hi I'm Lauren and I am a senior majoring in Neuroscience with hopes of pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant. I have a specific interest in pediatric medicine, as I love the energy kids have and the unique perspective they have on the world. My interest in pediatrics stems from my work as a volunteer for Children's Hospital and by the interactions I have had as a youth leader. During my time at CU I have also had the opportunity to study abroad in France and to shadow doctors in Portugal through the Atlantis Fellowship. Currently, I work at Boulder Community Health in the Oncology and Uruology department. Outside of school and work I love to spend my time outside: I love playing tennis, hiking, skiing and enjoying all that baby直播app has to offer!
Vice President:
Lia Buisson
Hi I鈥檓 Lia and I am a senior at CU majoring in Integrative Physiology with a certificate in Public Health. I am interested in pursuing a career in medicine and hopefully becoming an MD in the future. This past summer I had the opportunity to participate in a summer surgery internship at Baylor College of Medicine. Being in the OR every day and learning in some of the top hospitals in the country was an unforgettable experience that will continue to motivate me in the future. Outside of AMWA, I am also a tutor for student athletes. During my free time I enjoy hiking, yoga, traveling and spending time with family, friends and my two dogs. AMWA stood out to me among other pre-health organizations on campus because it offers a non-competitive and supportive environment where all members are seen as equal. Everyone is willing to share advice and resources to empower each other in pursuing different careers in medicine.
Events and Outreach Chair:
Becca Cone
Hi I鈥檓 Becca! I鈥檓 a sophomore studying international affairs with a global public health certificate and minoring in biochemistry and Spanish. I plan to one day become a doctor, with a specific interest in orthopedics or pediatrics. This summer, I became a nationally certified EMT! I am also involved with Boulder鈥檚 9Health Fair, and I am a spring break site leader for CU鈥檚 Alternative Breaks. Outside of school, I love hiking, skiing, running, and exploring Boulder!
Financial Officer:
Taylor Christiansen
Hi my name is Taylor and I am a junior majoring in Integrative Physiology. I hope to attend medical school after I finish my undergrad and pursue a career in neurology. This summer I worked as a research fellow for the CU Sleep and Development it was an amazing experience and I have learned a lot about ways that I could incorporate research into a career in medicine. I also served as an LA for General Chemistry 2 last year and I think that experience will help me to be a better communicator and doctor in the future. Outside of school I love watching movies, eating delicious food and hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. This year I want AMWA to be a group of students who can share advice and experiences of being premed with one another. I am so excited to help create a tight knit group of students going through this crazy journey together and I think it will help all of us to achieve our long-term goals in medicine.
Executive Officer:
Perry Hayman
Hi my name is Perry and I am a junior at CU majoring in IPHY with a studio art minor. This past summer I had the opportunity to conduct cancer research at CU Anschutz. During the school year I will be working in the Recreation Injury Care Center, working closely with the athletic trainer. While I do not know what I want to do in the future, I believe the more exposure you get to all the fields within medicine, the better you can make an honest happy decision! AMWA is here to help and I am excited to be a small part in that! In my free time I love to hike, be active, spend time with friends, and continuously explore what Boulder has to offer.
