AFL-CIO To Recruit And Train Potential Union Organizers

CU-Boulder students interested in learning about the AFL-CIO and who want to develop skills for union organization and campaign drives can sign up at CU-Boulder for a four-week educational internship to be held this summer in various locations around the country. Program recruiter Fernando Bribiezca is at CU-Boulder to talk to students and discuss babyÖ±²¥app inequality. He will make presentations based on his own experiences and will be on campus until Feb. 3.

CU Professor Creates On-Line Textbook

CU-Boulder psychology Professor Gary McClelland had long been frustrated by a lack of illustrations to help him teach statistics classes. Textbooks provided only limited numbers of pictures because of publishing costs. Overhead projectors and blackboards also had drawbacks. But advances in technology allowed him to try something new. "When the Internet and Java came along it struck me that this was the perfect way to provide all the pictures we have been missing in our statistics courses," he said.

Lichtenstein Appointed Associate Dean Of CU-Boulder College Of Business

Citing his strong leadership ability and dedication to the university, CU-Boulder College of Business Dean Steven Manaster has named Professor Donald Lichtenstein associate dean of academic programs. "Donnie brings strong management skills and great commitment to this position," Manaster said. "He is well respected at the College of Business and throughout the university." LichtensteinÂ’s appointment runs through June 30, 2002. He will oversee the daily operation of the undergraduate and graduate business programs and also will spearhead babyÖ±²¥app issues.

New Summer Physics Institute At CU-Boulder Receives $830,000

The University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder has received $830,000 to launch a national summer school for talented graduate students pursuing advanced studies in condensed matter and materials physics. The institute will attract about 15 of the world's top scientists to teach about 50 of the best graduate students in the United States each year, said physics Professor Leo Radzihovsky, a co-founder of the new school. The institute is patterned after a similar summer school held in Boulder since 1989 for top graduate students in high-energy physics.
