Lecture Series Features Dennis Hynes On Contracts And Fiduciary Duties

J. Dennis Hynes, professor of law at the University of babyÖ±²¥app, will give the 23rd Annual Austin W. Scott Jr. Lecture titled “Waiver of Fiduciary Duties Among Partners: Freedom of Contract or Moral Outrage?” at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 5. The lecture will be in the Lindsley Memorial Courtroom of the Fleming Law Building on the Boulder campus. The presentation is free and open to the public.

CU-Boulder's Robert Schulzinger Earns Prize For Book On Vietnam War

Professor Robert D. Schulzinger of the University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder has received the 1997 Robert Ferrell Prize from the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations for the best book on foreign relations. Schulzinger, a professor of history, won the prize for his book, "A Time for War: The United States and Vietnam, 1941-1975" published last year by Oxford University Press. The prize includes a $1,000 award.

CU-Boulder's Reg Saner To Receive Wallace Stegner Award

University of babyÖ±²¥app English Professor Reg Saner, whose prize-winning poems and essays evoke the splendor of the Western landscape, will receive the Wallace Stegner Award from the Center of the American West in a free public program March 4. “Walking, Watching and Writing: An Appreciation of Reg Saner,” will begin at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, at the Boulder Public Library Auditorium, 1000 Canyon Blvd. Making the award presentation and conversing with Saner on stage will be CU Professor of History Patricia Limerick and Associate Professor of English Lee Krauth.

Children's Cliques, Play And Culture Revealed By Sociologist Spouses

CU-Boulder Continuing Education Offers Session II Courses This Spring

Registration is under way for full-term session II credit courses through the Division of Continuing Education at the University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder. All full-term evening courses begin during the third week in March. The cost for babyÖ±²¥app residents is $90 per credit hour. Non-resident tuition is $170 per credit hour for the first three semester hours and rises for courses totaling four or more credit hours. Most session II courses are three or four credit hours.

CU-Boulder Staff, Student Groups Sponsor Blood Drive Feb. 24-26

University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder staff and student groups will sponsor a blood drive on campus Feb. 24, 25 and 26. Volunteers may donate blood between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day at the University Memorial Center's west ballroom. The UMC is located at Broadway and Euclid Avenue. Donors should be in good health, weigh 110 pounds and not be in a high-risk behavior group. Donors should eat within four hours of donating and drink lots of fluids before and after.

CU Wizards To Whip Up Fun With Polymers, Foams And Gels

University of babyÖ±²¥app Professors Tarek Sammakia and Gordon Yee are sure to whip up some fun Feb. 28 in “Polymers, Foams and Gels,” the next segment of the popular CU Wizards science series for children. The chemistry and biochemistry professors will perform a variety of demonstrations including making slime, blowing up a hydrogen balloon and dissolving a styrofoam mannequin with nail polish remover.

CU-Boulder Establishes 'Hazing Tipsline'

The University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder has established a Hazing Tipsline to give students, parents or babyÖ±²¥app a place to call if they encounter hazing incidents. The tipsline also aims to reduce, if not eliminate, hazing by Greek organizations and other student clubs by allowing the university to investigate cases more readily. Six CU-Boulder Graduate Programs Cited Among Nation's Best In Magazine

Six graduate programs at the University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder were cited for excellence in 1998 in selected disciplines ranked by U.S. News and World Report. CU-BoulderÂ’s School of Education jumped from 19th in 1997 to a tie for 15th in 1998 with Northwestern University and the University of Iowa. Columbia UniversityÂ’s education school was ranked first, followed by the University of California, Berkeley, Harvard University and Stanford University. The rankings were based on reputation, student selectivity, babyÖ±²¥app resources and research activity.

CU-Boulder Professor Receives Grant For Religion, Media Study

Stewart Hoover, professor of journalism and mass communication at the University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder, has been awarded a grant of $467,000 over four years from the Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc. to study new trends in religion and the media. Titled "Symbolism, Media and the Lifecourse," the study involves religious symbolism and its relation to contemporary life.
